Neiman Marcus Confirmed customer Payment Card Breach

Neiman Marcus Group a Dallas-based luxury retailer has confirmed that customers’ payment card information was stolen, leading to unauthorized charges over the holidays.


The high-end retailer said it was working with the U.S. Secret Service and a forensics firm to investigate the theft, which it said it learned about in December from its merchant card processor.

The retailer hired a digital forensics investigation firm On January 1st, the forensics firm discovered evidence that the company was the victim of a criminal cyber-security intrusion and that some customers cards were possibly compromised as a result.

Neiman Marcus spokeswoman Ginger Reeder said in an email Saturday that the retailer's credit card processor alerted management in mid-December of potentially unauthorized payment activity following purchases made by its customers

Neiman Marcus issued an apology to shoppers on its Twitter account late Friday: "The security of our customers' information is always a priority and we sincerely regret any inconvenience," followed by: "We are taking steps, where possible, to notify customers whose cards we know were used fraudulently after purchasing at our stores."
