Vietnam Cyber Security Agency made a Deal with Microsoft

The Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) has been made a deal with Microsoft regarding cyber security.

The Ministry of Information and Communications on March 6 signed with the Microsoft Corporation a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will help raise Vietnam’s Internet security.

The deal will help modernise IT facilities of Vietnamese small and medium-sized-enterprises and provide its Cybercrime Centre’s monthly reports for the ministry.

The multinational corporation will also support Vietnam to develop cloud computing applications and train local IT workforce

Director of VNCERT, Vu Quoc Khanh, highlighted that the MoU is a promise to bring positive change to the information security in Vietnam in the coming period.

The agency rates 78 out of 100 websites on the gov.vn domain to have “seriously” poor security systems. VNCERT will work with Microsoft to coordinate computer emergency assistance and inspect security breaches as the country witnesses a rise in cybercrime.

As cyber criminals continue to develop and advance their techniques, they are also shifting their targets - focusing less on theft of financial information and more on business espionage and accessing government information.

Microsoft is excited to mark our first collaboration with VNCERT to broaden the impact of joint efforts and address large-scale issues that are important to the IT industry development in Vietnam and keep the internet safer for every citizen
