P.F. Chang’s in Clearwater was hacked for card data; breach now contained

The P.F. Chang’s at 27001 U.S. Highway 19 N in Clearwater was one of the 33 U.S. stores victimized by a security breach where debit and credit card data was stolen, according to an announcement by the restaurant chain.

“The potentially stolen credit and debit card data includes the card number and in some cases also the cardholder's name and/or the card's expiration date,” the release went on to say.

“However, we have not determined that any specific cardholder's credit or debit card data was stolen by the intruder.”

The other Florida P.F. Chang's hacked was in Winter Park.

An updated statement from CEO Rick Federico said that the “security compromise has been contained and P.F. Chang’s has been processing credit and debit card data securely at all locations since June. 11.”

The day prior, the U.S. Secret Service alerted P.F. Chang’s to the possible security compromise. An investigation, including third party forensic experts, was immediately initiated. The team continues to work to understand the “nature and scope of the incident.”
